New Delhi, May 1 Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during his team’s dramatic four-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk Stadium. This is PBKS’s first over-rate offense in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.

PBKS Penalised Despite Stellar Performance by Chahal

Due to the slow over rate, Punjab Kings had to bring an extra fielder inside the 30-yard circle before the start of the 19th over. However, this did not hamper spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who delivered a magical spell, including a hat-trick and four wickets in a single over — his second IPL hat-trick.

Chennai, powered by a blistering 88 off 47 balls by Sam Curran, were cruising at 177/5 in 18 overs, looking to breach the 200-run mark. But Chahal’s exceptional bowling saw CSK collapse, losing their last five wickets for just 6 runs, ending their innings at 190 in 19.2 overs.
