Minneapolis Police said the Minneapolis shooter has been identified as a man in his 20s who was dressed in all black and was carrying three weapons. The shooter was confirmed dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he opened fire inside Annunciation Catholic School , killing at least two and injuring several others.
"This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children. The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of kids is absolutely incomprehensible," the police chief said, adding that the shooter was armed with a rifle, shotgun and a pistol.
Without revealing the name of the shooter, police chief Brian O'Hara said he had no known criminal history.
Despite reports that there were explosives at the scene of Wednesday’s shooting, none were found, the police chief said, adding that there was a "sort of firework".
The shooting took place during a Mass to mark the first week of school. The shooter fired through the windows at people sitting in pews. The shooter probably had extensive knowledge about the school. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey offered condolences to the families of the victims of Wednesday’s shooting, dismissing any offers of “thoughts and prayers.” “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” he said. “These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school. They were in a church.”
Social media speculations over the shooter's identity
Though the police did not reveal the name of the shooter, social media platforms were abuzz with a name: ' Robin Westman ' and claimed that the shooter uploaded a video before the shooting. The claim is not verified.

Looks like the trans shooter Robin Westman had a drawing of the church which he subsequently stabs with a knife while saying quietly “I’m going to kill myself” three times. Video still up. pic.twitter.com/eFCnmu9yM6
