A Temple University student has been suspended following outrage over an antisemitic sign displayed at a Philadelphia nightclub owned by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. The sign, which read “F**k the Jews,” appeared on a bottle service display at Barstool Sansom Street on Saturday night and was widely condemned after footage surfaced on social media.

Temple President Richard Englert issued a statement confirming that at least one student had been placed on interim suspension while the Division of Student Affairs investigates. “In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent,” he wrote. “It has no place at Temple, and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university.”

The video was first shared by StopAntisemitism, a non-profit watchdog group, and reportedly showed Temple student Mohammed Adnan Khan filming the nightclub scene where the offensive sign appeared. Khan has not commented publicly on the matter.

Portnoy, who purchased the Philadelphia venue last year, reacted furiously, posting several videos on his social media platforms. “You think I’m going to put up with this s**t at my bar?” he said. “I’ve been hunting down the waitresses, the table who did it—everything. I want consequences.” He confirmed that two staff members had already been fired over the incident and vowed to make it a “life mission” to hold those responsible accountable.

Portnoy, who has spoken out against antisemitism since the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, said the incident had left him “shaking” with rage. He added that he initially wanted to “burn these people to the ground,” but later saw an opportunity to turn the outrage into education. “Maybe we can send these kids to Auschwitz, do a tour of the concentration camps, and hopefully they learn something and think twice.”

He also described one of the fired employees as “one of the dumbest f***ing humans I've ever talked to” and insisted the bar would never allow such hatred to go unchallenged again.
