Kamya Gupta , an entrepreneur and self-proclaimed AI enthusiast, has started an online debate with her unconventional use of ChatGPT as her personal interior designer. In a viral Instagram video, Gupta documented how she collaborated with the AI chatbot to transform her room into a cozy, minimalistic space. The results, however, have divided opinions online.
AI-powered room makeoverGupta began her project by asking ChatGPT for suggestions on repainting her walls to complement her wooden flooring while creating an eclectic vibe. The chatbot recommended earthy tones and provided ideas for wall layouts, art placement, and decorative elements like neon signs. Gupta also shared screenshots of furniture and lighting options, which were incorporated into the design with the help of AI tools.
“Honestly, this is insane. A thought that had in my mind for years came to life just through a conversation. As a AI enthusiast, I got to explore and learn so many new features just by being curious.
Doing this for my parents, getting the best reaction, having all my core memories up and finally having my chill spot, I’m thankful and scared of AI at the same time.
But for now, we’re just Chillin’ at MAKS 🕺🏻”, said Gupta in her Instagram post.
Mixed reactions from netizensWhile many praised Gupta’s creativity and smart use of AI, others criticised the execution, particularly the choice of a bright orange wall colour. Some users hailed the project as a brilliant example of AI’s potential, while others expressed concerns about AI replacing human jobs, including those of professional interior designers.
Gupta’s video, which has garnered over 65,000 views, showcases her friends astonished reaction to the room makeover.
