The incident comes shortly after Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali made claims about PSL's potential viewership growth.
"Fans watch the tournament where there's good cricket with entertainment. If we play well in the PSL, viewers will leave the IPL to watch us," Hasan Ali had stated before the season opener.
English cricketer Sam Billings, currently playing in the PSL and with previous IPL experience, offered his perspective on the comparison between the two leagues.
"You want me to say something silly? It's hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition in the world; it's very obvious, every other competition is just behind. In England (T20 Blast and The Hundred), we are trying to do the same as PSL, as the second-best competition in the world," Billings stated during a press conference.
The PSL 2025 season has completed nine matches so far, with each of the six participating teams having played three games each. Islamabad United currently lead the points table with an undefeated record. Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings follow in the standings, with both teams having lost one match each.
