NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh on April 20, accusing them of neglecting public concerns and focusing on trivial matters.
He specifically targeted the BJP's handling of employment issues and the recently passed Waqf Act, while also addressing the controversy surrounding party MP Ramji Lal Suman's statement about Rana Sanga.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav sharply criticized the government's approach to employment and economic issues.
"This government has two achievements, pakora and bhagoda (fugitive). Anyone who wants employment, they ask them to make pakora, and you know about the fugitive who ran away with the country's money," Yadav said.
He questioned the relevance of the Waqf Act and accused the BJP of creating social unrest.
"Will the income of farmers be doubled after the Waqf Bill is passed? These people want to create trouble. If you see a riot anywhere, the Bharatiya Janata Party is behind it...This army is Yogi Army, Yogi Ji is hell-bent on destroying Uttar Pradesh," Yadav stated.
The SP leader visited Agra on Saturday to meet party MP Ramji Lal Suman, following violence outside Suman's residence over his controversial statement about Rana Sanga, a 16th-century Rajput king.
After the meeting, Yadav emphasized his party's commitment to constitutional values.
"The Samajwadi Party will move ahead following the Constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar and the rights that we have under it. Action will be taken against those who waved swords and those who have abused. We are followers of the law contrary to the Bharatiya Janata Party," he said.
Yadav accused the BJP of disregarding constitutional rights, stating, "BJP is like snatching the rights and does not act on the Constitution."
The controversy arose after Ramji Lal Suman called Rana Sanga a "traitor" for allegedly bringing Babur, the Mughal dynasty's founder, to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.
