Strictly Come Dancing viewers took to social media to issue a demand during the latest episode on Saturday evening. Many of those tuning in to the BBC dance competition were pleading with two stars not to depart after their decision to step down.
Several weeks ago, presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly revealed their intentions to quit the BBC series following the current competition. The announcement left viewers stunned, with their successors yet to be announced. Now, whilst watching the most recent episode, fans implored the duo to reconsider and remain on the show. As ever, the pair were still in good spirits throughout the show as they delivered some compelling entertainment with huge smiles on their faces. After witnessing the presenters enjoying themselves, fans recognised how much they would miss them when Tess and Claudia depart. Urging them to reconsider their decision, one fan pleaded on X/Twitter: "PLEASE DON'T LEAVE US." While another fan admitted: "I don't know what I'll do without Claudia on my screen."
Last month, the duo revealed in a joint statement that they would step down as hosts. Tess said at the time: "Yeah we have news. After 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have decided the time is right to step aside and pass on the baton."
Claudia added: "We have, we're so lucky to have been part of this amazing show and we just want to thank the Strictly team because Strictly is the people who make it so thank you."
This comes after judge Shirley Ballas extended her support to contestant Ellie Goldstein following her exit from the show.
The actress and model was the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the BBC competition last weekend, along with her dance partner Vito Coppola.
Posting a picture on Instagram from Halloween week featuring the dancing duo and herself, Shirley penned: "Ellie, how beautiful to have had you on our show for six wonderful weeks @elliejg16_zebedeemodel ... You have been dedicated to giving it your very best, your musicality is simply breathtaking and your power and energy is spectacular.
"@vitocoppola said it best, we were blessed to witness an angel grace our show. Thank you for sharing your love with us. I feel privileged to have watched you grow each week. This partnership will always hold a place in my heart. @bbcstrictly x"
