As temperatures start to dip, shoppers are turning to clever ways to stay warm without turning up the thermostat - and one popular pick is the Silentnight Heated Pad, which has been hailed an 'excellent alternative to heating the house'. The Silentnight Heated Pad is now down to £28.50 from £30 in a limited-time special price from Yimbly - an online marketplace owned by the Daily Express' parent company, Reach Plc.
The heated pad offers a simple way to bring warmth exactly where it's needed. Designed for targeted relief, it can help ease aches and pains in the back, shoulders, waist, legs or stomach, the brand says, with three adjustable heat settings.
Made from super soft fleece, the pad feels cosy to the touch and features a stain resistant finish that's easy to wipe clean. It's also machine washable, ensuring it stays fresh after repeated use.
Measuring 40 by 60cm, it provides generous coverage for relaxing warmth, whether on the sofa, in bed or at a desk. Silentnight, one of the UK's most trusted sleep brands with over 75 years of experience, has created this pad as an energy efficient alternative to heating and it is said to cost around 1p per hour to run.
Dreams also has its Luxury Quilted Heated Blanket for £45 on its website, down from £100. This blanket has nine adjustable heat settings, is machine washable at 30 degrees and is hypoallergenic for sensitive sleepers. Argos also has the Dreamland Intelliheat Heat Pad - Grey for £40, which has five heat settings, hand held control, and an auto shut-off after 180 minutes.
Although there are no specific reviews on Yimbly for the Silentnight Heated Pad, shoppers have rated it a high 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. One person said: "Excellent alternative to heating the house or even just the living room. Saved hundreds of pounds in gas costs."
A second wrote: "Bought this for (my) sister who has back problems and loves it! Uses it all the time, especially at her desk when working. Probably going to get one for myself." A third person said: "Easy to use, portable and works well to help ease a knee injury."
Some had slight concerns with the heat levels, as one said: "Warm but not warm enough. Not very warm. I wanted it for my arthritic joints, but it doesn't get hot enough to help much." Another wrote: "This is not suitable for use on limbs - it does not wrap around or stay in place. However, I found it to be brilliant as a bed blanket - under the bottom sheet - to keep it in place - keeps feet and legs cosy."
