Crystal Palace are set to face off against Liverpool in the Community Shield on Sunday, but the game won't be shown on ITV. The Eagles, under the guidance of Oliver Glasner, shocked the football world in May by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Eberechi Eze was the hero of the day, scoring the only goal of the game to secure Palace's first-ever major trophy and setting up a Community Shield showdown with Arne Slot's Premier League champions, Liverpool. However, those hoping to watch the game on free-to-air television in the UK will be left wanting. For the first time in four years, the fixture will not be broadcast on ITV.
When and where is the Community Shield? The Community Shield clash between Crystal Palace and Liverpool will take place at Wembley on Sunday. The match is set to kick off at 3pm UK time.
What channel is the Community Shield on?While the Community Shield was available to watch for free on ITV from 2021 to 2024, the broadcaster has now lost the rights to the game. Instead, the match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace will be shown exclusively on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

The FA has confirmed in a statement: "The match will be contested by the 2024/25 Emirates FA Cup winners, Crystal Palace, and 2024/25 Premier League champions, Liverpool. The game will take place at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Sunday 10 August. It will be broadcast live and exclusively on TNT Sports 1, with kick-off at 3pm BST."
Those subscribed to Discovery+ will also have the opportunity to live stream the action from their smart TV, mobile devices, gaming consoles or streaming platform of choice.
What is the Community Shield and how are the teams selected?Previously known as the Charity Shield, the Community Shield is an annual football fixture played between the victors of the previous season's FA Cup and Premier League. As Crystal Palace triumphed over Manchester City to clinch the FA Cup and Liverpool secured last season's Premier League title, the two will now face off for the Community Shield.
Established in 1908, the FA donates the proceeds from the match to community projects and charitable causes across the nation. Manchester City claimed victory in last year's Community Shield following a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with local rivals Manchester United.
The Red Devils hold the record for the most victories in the competition's history, having hoisted the trophy 21 times. In contrast, Crystal Palace will be making their debut appearance in the contest, having never clinched the Premier League title and only securing their first FA Cup last season.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have triumphed in the Community Shield 16 times, with their most recent victory being a 3-1 defeat of Man City in 2022.
