Strictly Come Dancing fans have eagerly been awaiting updates on this year's line-up with nine celebrity contestants being confirmed so far. But some die hard fans of the BBC series have shared their disappointment just weeks before the show launch. It comes as fan favourite Gorka Marquez announced he will not be partnered with a celebrity contestant. The Spanish dancer will be unable to compete despite being previously announced as part of the official line up back in April. He will be totally absent for up to four weeks of the BBC show's next run, set to launch in September, as he is appearing as a judge on the Spanish version of the competition, Bailando Con Las Estrellas, in October. Meanwhile, others expressed their disappointment at this year's line up, with some suggesting they are not well known stars.
Taking to X one viewer complained: "Yup, will be giving #Strictly a miss this year." Another echoed: "It might just be me, but #strictly celebrities this year.... aren't. I'll no doubt watch it because I like the pros, but so far it's disappointing." A third argued: "No big celeb names yet and no Gorka this year? #Strictly come on, I've not seen a wow, can't wait, name yet." A fourth shared: "#strictly not over enamoured with the lineup tbh..."
"Bottom of the barrel is an understatement WOW... #Strictly," another furious fan shared.
While another quipped: "When are more 'celebrities' going to be announced?"
Others admitted they were excited for this year's series as one penned: "Absolutely LOVING this #Strictly line-up so far! Can't wait for the new series to start!"
Another added: "Super excited."
The first celebrities heading to the ballroom for Strictly Come Dancing 2025 have been named. Those taking part this year include a former international footballer, a Drag Race star, a famous YouTuber, an EastEnders star and a Love Island winner.
