However, tonight, and face a harsh return to reality as Race Across The World announces its first elimination.
The duo who are last to reach the checkpoint in the enigmatic Shangri-La, a city perched on the brink of the Tibetan plateau near the foothills of the Himalaya, will be sent packing on a one-way flight back to the UK.
And sharp-eyed fans believe they've sussed out which couple it is. One eagle eyed user shared that they re-watched the end of episode one, which included sneak peeks of the rest of the series.
They pointed out that all seemed to have been filmed in the final destination, India, but Gaz and Yin were noticeably absent.
While the show played clips of Brian and Melvyn hitting balls, and Caroline getting a bindi put on, they showed Gaz and Yin dashing across what appears to be a 'modern bridge in daylight'—a sight that viewers are convinced isn't in India.
A viewer speculated: "Seems pretty certain that we'll lose Gaz and Yin – given that they were last, with at least a twelve-hour delay on the ferry, and they are shown near the checkpoint in daylight. It's quite possible that they're nearly 36 hours behind. Seems such a waste to include an elimination when the casting is so strong."
The call from other fans for the grew louder.
One fan expressed: "The whole elimination thing is pretty pointless, especially so early in the race. Not sure it adds much to what's a great show. If you have to do it, maybe leave it to when there's two legs left."
Another chimed in saying: "The eliminations in this show are so unnecessary, unless they have no money or are so far behind they would never be able to catch up."
And another added: "I'm going to be heartbroken to lose any of these teams, they're all likable."

Although it's looking grim for Gaz and Yin, at least they've avoided the 'huge mistake' another duo made, jeopardising their position in the contest.
Meanwhile, some eagle-eyed devotees couldn't help but express their frustration upon realising that Melvyn opted for a wheeled suitcase over a practical backpack.
"Is one of the brothers gonna drag a suitcase from China to India?" asked a baffled fan on X, formerly known as .
"Guaranteed that suitcase will be the first victim on Race Across The World," chimed in another, sensing impending doom.
Echoing the sentiment, another fan remarked: "That wheelie suitcase is going to cause a lot of problems."
Race Across The World airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
