Famous Arsenal fan worth £60m played surprising role in Wrexham's promotion dreams

is a big Gunners supporter and stars alongside McElhenney in his sitcom, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.' According to a report by , the legendary actor served as an unlikely sounding board when McElhenney first contemplated buying a football club during the Covid lockdown in 2020.

The 80-year-old's assistance has continued since then and he even for Wrexham's game against Barnsley held in Los Angeles in December. DeVito high-fived fans at the Cosm immersive reality venue after a stoppage time goal from midfielder Rathbone secured all three points for Phil Parkinson's team.

DeVito previously during an appearance at the 2019 National Television Awards. He was at the event to present the Best Drama Performance gong to Richard Madden for his role in Bodyguard, but also declared his love for the north London side while on stage.

Referring to his plans to attend a Gunners' match, DeVito said: "This is a big week for me this week. It's really nice for me to be here, I've got an Arsenal game on Friday night."

DeVito then joked about potentially playing in goal for his favourite club after Petr Cech announced his retirement. "I've got try-outs," he said. "I'm going to get Petr Cech's job - he's a goalie. Go Arsenal."

Unfortunately, Devito's speech didn't go down well with everyone as some audience members booed. "You're mean" the actor fired back.

Meanwhile, Wrexham boss Parkinson has praised the humble nature of the club's celebrity owners following their most recent success.

Speaking to about Reynolds and McElhenney's impact, he said: "They bought the club because of the passion for the club in the area. This will mean so much to those two and they deserve it because they've let us manage. They've been brilliant.

"It doesn't happen often in football. They've let the manager pick the team, sign the players and have sat back and let us do our job, but still been involved. They've been outstanding for us and great to work for."
