A child has died and three others, including two children and an adult, were rushed to after being struck by a truck near a , police say.
The tragic incident happened at around 3:30pm local time on Thursday, May 22 in the 200 block of South Marsalis Avenue, just off Interstate 35E and near Felix G. Botello Elementary School in Oak Cliff, according to
Emergency services rushed to the scene and crews from Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the injured people to a hospital. Dallas Independent School District officials confirmed that the three children - a 12-year-old boy and two 8-year-old girls - were students at the school.

One of the children has died from their injuries while the other two remain in critical but stable condition at Children's Medical Center. The police have confirmed the injured adult is in stable condition.
The crash happened shortly after school finished for the day, officials said. Police said the driver, an elderly individual, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities do not believe the driver was speeding at the time of the crash.

As the community mourns residents are calling for increased safety measures and urging both drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution, especially near schools. Andrea Williams, a neighbourhood resident, described the scene with visible emotion.
"When I got out of the car I saw all the blood and the babies' clothes, and I put two and two together," Williams said. "Summer hasn't even started and things like this happen, and as a parent it just worries you," reports
During a press conference on the corner of Jefferson and Marsalis at 6pm local time Dallas Police Deputy Chief Catrina Shead said that the victims seemed to be connected in some way. “At this point, we believe that they are [related]. Well, not one family, but there is some relationship,” she said.
