Palakkad (Kerala) | A woman suffered serious injuries after touching a live wire connected to an illegal trap set up to catch wild boars on the compound of her own house in this district of Kerala, police said on Saturday.
65-year-old Malathi was found lying on the compound of the house in Vaniyamkulam by one of her relatives in the morning.
After being alerted by the relative, the neighbours and local people rushed to the area and shifted her to the hospital.
Local people said the fingers of her left hand suffered serious injuries after coming in contact with the illegal wild boar trap connected to an electric wire.
Police said an investigation is ongoing to find out who has set the trap in the area.
The incident happened barely a month after a farmer was electrocuted by an illegal wild boar trap allegedly set up by his neighbour in Kerala's Alappuzha district in June.
In another tragic incident, a teenager was electrocuted by an illegal wild boar trap in Nilambur in Malappuram district last month, and the incident had triggered a political storm in the state.
