Actor Kamal Haasan has announced the postponement of the audio launch of his upcoming Tamil film Thug Life, which was originally scheduled for May 16, 2025, in Chennai, amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Haasan urged citizens to respond with 'restraint and solidarity.'
Issuing a statement titled 'Art Can Wait. India Comes First' on Friday, the 7-year-old actor wrote, "In view of the developments at our nation's border and the current state of heightened alert, we have decided to reschedule the audio launch of Thug Life, originally planned for the 16th of May. As our soldiers stand firm on the frontlines with unflinching courage in defence of our motherland, I believe it is a time for quiet solidarity, not celebration. A new date will be be announced at a later, more appropriate time."

He added, "At this time, our thoughts are with the brave men and women of our armed forces who stand vigilant, safeguarding our nation. As citizens, it is our duty to respond with restraint and solidarity. Celebration must make way for reflection."
The audio launch was scheduled to take place on May 16 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
Thug Life is slated to hit theatres on June 5, 2025. Directed by Mani Ratnam. The film also features Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf and Vaiyapuri.
Thug Life also marks Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's reunion after 36 years, since their hit outing, Nayakan, which was released in 1987.
