Bombay High Court Restrains Bhool Chuk Maaf OTT Release Amid Legal Battle Between Maddock Films And PVR INOX

This morning, it was reported that PVR Inox has sued Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films for cancelling the theatrical release of their movie Bhool Chuk Maaf just a day before it was going to hit the big screens. Now, it has been reported that the Bombay High Court has restrained the OTT release of the Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s film. Senior journalist Komal Nahta took to X to share the news with everyone.

He posted, "SUPER-EXPLOSIVE: Dinesh Vijan restrained from releasing his ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ on OTT. Bombay high court grants PVR Inox relief.”

Bhool Chuk Maaf OTT Release

On Thursday (May 8, 2025), the makers of Bhool Chuk Maaf announced that due the current situation in the country, they have decided to release the film directly on Amazon Prime Video, and it will start streaming from May 16, 2025.

The statement shared by the team read, "In light of recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16 - only on Prime Video, worldwide."

It further read, "While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating this film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. JAI Hind."

However, we wonder if due to the legal trouble, the Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer will get a theatrical release.

Bhool Chuk Maaf Advance Booking

Well, Bhool Chuk Maaf's trailer and songs had not grabbed everyone's attention. However, according to a report in Pinkvilla, the film had already sold 3000 tickets in national chains for day one, and according to industry estimates it could have sold around 15000 tickets by the end of its advance booking, taking an opening day collection of Rs. 3.50 crore.
