Bihar Elections 2025: From Raghopur to Patna, check key seats to watch out in Bihar assembly elections

The Election Commission of India is set to announce the schedule of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 at 4 PM on Monday. With key figures like Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and Chirag Paswan in focus, Bihar elections have gathered major limelight in recent times with BJP, RJD and JD(U), all gearing up their campaigns in the state.

Out of 243 seats in the Bihar assembly, a party needs 122 seats to form a majority in the state. Here are some important Bihar seats that play a key role in Bihar's political background.

Raghopur (Vaishali)

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s seat in Raghopur of Vaishali district is a major focus of Bihar elections 2025. A symbolic epicentre of politics, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is actively targeting it to unsettle RJD leadership credibility.

Phulwari (SC, Patna)

Phulwari election seat in Patna district is a major focus because of its SC reservation. Being an SC/ST-dominated area, Phulwari also boasts of a huge Muslim population. In Lok Sabha elections 2024, Gopal Ravidas of CPI(ML)(L).

Patna Sahib (Patna)

The capital city of Bihar, Patna is a high-visibility seat in Bihar elections with a strong hold of BJP historically. The winning of the Patna Sahib seat matters for momentum and urban vote narrative. BJP-leader Nand Kishore Yadav won the Patna Sahib seat in 2020 Assembly elections in Bihar.

Danapur (Patna)

Danapur, a suburban area in Patna, is a key seat in Bihar elections 2025 since it gathered a narrow-margin win in the recent polls. The seat has had leaderships across different parties, including RJD and BJP. In assembly elections 2020, Ritlal Yadav from RJD won the seat with 48.44% votes.

Purnia

Purnea district in Bihar gathered major limelight because of PM Modi's recent Bihar visit where he also inaugurated an airport in September. In 2024 general elections, independent candidate Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, established political parties like the JD(U) and the RJD. In the last assembly elections, BJP member Vijay Kumar Khemka secured the seat.

Hasanpur

Tej Pratap Yadav-ruled Hasanpur seat of Bihar has been a focus of JD(U) as well as RJD over the last few assembly elections. It lies in the Rosera Subdivision of Samastipur district inBihar. Before Tej Pratap Yadav, Raj Kumar Ray of JD(U) held the seat for two consecutive elections.

EC's announcement of Bihar elections dates comes a day after the election body announced 17 key changes in the Bihar elections format with better training and higher strictness in the process.

Political parties have urged the polling body to conduct the assembly polls immediately after the Chhath festival. JD(U) Bihar president Umesh Singh Kushwaha urged EC to conduct elections in a single phase. However, the 2020 assembly polls in Bihar were held in three phases.
