Elon Musk's AI company xAI has open-sourced its Grok 2.5 language model. Musk is planning to make the Grok 3 model available to everyone in the coming 6 months. In February this year, Musk and his team launched Grok 3 through live-streaming. Apart from this, Musk has also mentioned earlier that he is also planning to launch the Grok 5 model by the end of this year.
Grok 3 was also open-sourced in 6 months.
Musk wrote on his X post that Grok 2.5 was his best model last year, and now it is open-sourced. Grok 3 will also be open-sourced in the coming 6 months. Earlier, xAI had also open-sourced the Grok 1 model last year.
Companies in the race for open-source
Musk's competitor company, OpenAI, has also launched two new open-source models this year. Meta has already open-sourced its Llama series four times. China's Qwen and DeepSeek companies are also dominating this sector by launching open-source models.
Why were questions raised on Grok AI?
Recently, Grok AI has been in a lot of controversies. Many allegations were made against Grok AI. Users said that this chatbot has leaked the private chats of users on the Internet. On clicking the share option, the link of the chat started appearing on search engines Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. Due to this, the privacy of thousands of users was in danger.
Earlier, Grok AI was also accused of praising Hitler and calling itself Mecha Hitler. Although xAI called it a mistake in old code, still this chatbot raised questions on the company many times.
